1.1. Introduction
This course is included in module 4 about specific competence no. 4, “Planning, designing and developing syllabus and learning activities, and evaluating the speciality and subject of its competence”, as regards “Competences related to curricular design”. It includes the courses “Curricular design of the subject Spanish Language and Literature, and Latin and Greek” and “Disciplinary contents for the subject Spanish Language and Literature, and Latin and Greek” (supplementary training and disciplinary scientific updating). These two courses are coordinated in such a way that the scene and analysis of the scientific contents for the different speciality courses are done with the project carried out in the first subject.
2.1. Learning goals
To pass this course, students should obtain the following results:
1.- Know the Curriculum; understand both its structure, and the competences and overall objectives, of the Compulsory Secondary Education and High School Education stage. Recognise, describe and analyse the essential elements of a curricular design: general and specific competences, objectives, contents, methodology, teaching-learning activities, didactic resources, criteria and evaluation procedures.
2.- Relate the Spanish Language and Literature curriculum in Compulsory Secondary Education and High School Education, and Universal Literature, to general competences and other subjects of the curriculum. If applicable, know the curriculum of Classic Culture, Latin and Greek, in Compulsory Secondary Education and High School Education, and its connection with general competences and other subjects of the curriculum.
3.- Identify the main difficulties of teaching-learning that appear in these areas. Assess the characteristics of Compulsory Secondary Education and High School Education students from the point of view of developing linguistic and communication skills, and their interests and reading habits.
4.- By means of rigorous methods, analyse the different possibilities and central themes for the sequence and schedule of the contents of the Spanish Language and Literature, Universal Literature or, if applicable, Classic Culture, Latin and Greek Curricula. Critically analyse and compare different didactic proposals in textbooks or didactic units and other curricular materials by paying attention to diversity.
5.- Draw up a basic yearly and argued proposal of contents sequencing for a speciality subject.
